Summary

What if Meg had to become a god?

After Hercules proves he's a true hero and regains his godship, all seems right in the world。 That is, until Zeus tells Meg that she can't be with Hercules because she's, well, mortal。 Luckily, Hera has a solution, offering Meg a chance to prove herself worthy of a spot on Mt。 Olympus--as a god。 All Meg has to do is complete a mysterious quest。

The mission? Oh, just to rescue her ex's current wife from the Underworld。 The ex-boyfriend she saved by selling her soul to Hades。 The ex-boyfriend who immediately moved on to someone else while she was stuck in the Underworld。 Can Meg put her past behind her and use her quick-wit to defeat monsters and gods alike, including the nefarious Hades? Will she finally figure out her place and contribution to the world? Or will her fear of commitment have her running away from an eternity of godhood with Herc?

Written by the author of Mirror, Mirror and Conceal, Don't Feel, Jen Calonita's latest twist is sure to delight and surprise。

I love Disney。 I am in fact a chuegy, Disney-loving thirty-something。 And I am ok with that。 Now that we got out of the way… I love these Twisted Tales。 Ever since I read the first one, I’ve looked forward to each new installment。 (And they just keep getting better!)This one takes the Disney movie Hercules and adds in a twist… What if Meg had to become a Greek God?There are a couple of things to love here。First, we get to know Meg better。 She is such a fun character and in this book we get to kn I love Disney。 I am in fact a chuegy, Disney-loving thirty-something。 And I am ok with that。 Now that we got out of the way… I love these Twisted Tales。 Ever since I read the first one, I’ve looked forward to each new installment。 (And they just keep getting better!)This one takes the Disney movie Hercules and adds in a twist… What if Meg had to become a Greek God?There are a couple of things to love here。First, we get to know Meg better。 She is such a fun character and in this book we get to know even more about her。 Second, it’s a light, upbeat, Greek myth。 Those don’t actually exist anywhere outside of Disney! So it’s fun to get to step into that world。 Lastly, Jen actually writes the voices of all of the characters in such a way that you can hear their voices from the movie! If you like Circe, but thought it was a bit dark and depressing。 Read this one。 It will lift your spirits and take you right back into the Disney classic。 。。。more

An enjoyable read, which takes a fun and adventurous twist on Zeus being a bully。 Let's be real, the actual twist is: what if Zeus was more in character with the actual myths (aka not so nice)?Still, a very enjoyable read that just makes you feel warm at the end。I liked how Jen Calonita stayed true to the Disney characters of Meg, Hercules, Phil and Pegasus。 Meg was noteworthy for the extensive backstory she was given, and for her character development。 This was realistic and gritty (though suit An enjoyable read, which takes a fun and adventurous twist on Zeus being a bully。 Let's be real, the actual twist is: what if Zeus was more in character with the actual myths (aka not so nice)?Still, a very enjoyable read that just makes you feel warm at the end。I liked how Jen Calonita stayed true to the Disney characters of Meg, Hercules, Phil and Pegasus。 Meg was noteworthy for the extensive backstory she was given, and for her character development。 This was realistic and gritty (though suitable still for a middle grade audience)。 Hercules is, well, Hercules。 Very little change from the 1997 movie。 Same with Pegasus - useful as ever。 Phil serves as great comedic relief, that still comes through as well on the page as it did in the film。 These movie elements are exceptionally integrated with plenty of actual Greek mythology。 This made the story very educational as well as entertaining! Meg's quest serves as a backdrop to numerous battles with mythical beasts and puzzles, showing that she can do just as good as any man。 Well, nearly。 One incident does go against this, and serves to help with the message of the story (immediately below)。 Much like any Twisted Tale, this book had the great message that you need to learn how to be vulnerable and seek help from those you love - getting help is a good thing! My only issue with this book is a spoiler that they got wrong with a myth to make it more 'child-friendly' (for obvious reasons though!): (view spoiler)[Hades kidnapped Persephone。 It was not a love match as this book portrays。 (hide spoiler)]["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]> 。。。more

Well。。。 This was。。。 meh? I always loved Megara and it was fun to read her for a few hours。 And I am not upset by the idea, I think it was a great idea。 My biggest problem was with the writing。 I don't know if it was just me but I felt like Calonita wrote this without any emotion at all。 Felt rushed and simple, scenes that could be so deep and heavy were just。。。 Just nothing。 The biggest moments were merely described。 I couldn't connect with Calonita's writing, so the story, by the end, means not Well。。。 This was。。。 meh? This book was amazing! Jen’s last book wasn’t the greatest but I absolutely loved this book! Any fan of the movie Hercules should definitely take the time to enjoy this amazing story。

I absolutely loved this book。 It definitely gives the reader a new perspective on your typical Hurcules story and how Meg learns that true love is more than just skin deep。

I just started reading this series and so far, this is my favorite book! I absolutely loved how the author stayed true to the original characters from Hercules with a few twists here and there。 I felt like could definitely be a sequel to Hercules。 This book will pull you in from the beginning and takes you on so many adventures。 I highly recommend it to all the fans out there that have been waiting for Meg’s chance to shine in her own story ☺️

For true die hard fans of hercules like me who have seen the movie well over 100 times and have shelves of collectibles this will be a cataclysmic disappointment。 Jen calonita does not capture the essence of meg which infuriates me because meg is my all time favorite female disney character。 This was riddled with pointless 3 dimensional traits and not to mention the utterly pointless inclusion of the fabled persephone/hades myth。 Add in some forced feminism and scizophrenic behavior and you have For true die hard fans of hercules like me who have seen the movie well over 100 times and have shelves of collectibles this will be a cataclysmic disappointment。 Jen calonita does not capture the essence of meg which infuriates me because meg is my all time favorite female disney character。 This was riddled with pointless 3 dimensional traits and not to mention the utterly pointless inclusion of the fabled persephone/hades myth。 Add in some forced feminism and scizophrenic behavior and you have a corroded story with a weak frame。 Oh well, at least we'll always have the movie。 (also important to note, I feel this would have been milestones better with liz braswell hemming this story) 。。。more

I thought it was a very cute continue of the movie。 Anytime Hercules and Meg were mentioned together it was completely adorable! I hope that next year it will be discounted on kindle so I can buy it forever!

So cute! I love these twisted tales。 They are short, quick flowing reads。 This one poses the question "What if Meg had to become a Greek god?" I did enjoy this book a lot but at times it almost dragged a bit which is mostly because it has quite a few plot lines that are being set up but don't seem too relevant at first。 As with Straight On Till Morning I absolutely love how they took the original female rivalry and turned it in friendship。 I did enjoy this book a lot but at times it almost dragged a bit which is mostly because it has quite a few plot lines that are being set up but don't seem too relevant at first。 As with Straight On Till Morning I absolutely love how they took the original female rivalry and turned it in friendship。 。。。more

This was a fast pace story and very interesting to read。 Meg was awesome in this story and the way the author took her on the journey was interesting and very well written。 What Meg learned during her journey to become a god was stunning, she learned so much and changed her view of what it meant to live。 This was an amazing story and I enjoyed that the author included Hades and Persephone love story。 It helped the story to move on and was a nice touch。 This was a brilliant twist and the developm This was a fast pace story and very interesting to read。 Meg was awesome in this story and the way the author took her on the journey was interesting and very well written。 What Meg learned during her journey to become a god was stunning, she learned so much and changed her view of what it meant to live。 This was an amazing story and I enjoyed that the author included Hades and Persephone love story。 It helped the story to move on and was a nice touch。 This was a brilliant twist and the development of Meg was nice to read about。 。。。more

This novel flowed easily, and was a welcome, fun reprieve from my usual reads, but it read largely like a fan fiction, sans smut。 Very moral-ly。 Essence of afternoon special。 It also took some unwelcome, Disney-fueled detours from major mythology points。 It’s fine in the film, but seems sacrilegious on paper。 Is that just me? Perhaps I’m reading too much into it。 Overall — solid 3。5。

I wanted to love this book。 Hercules is my all time favorite Disney movie and Meg is no doubt my favorite character。 So when I found out a book about her was being written I couldn’t preorder fast enough。 The thing I found the most difficult though was the Meg in the book didn’t feel like the Meg I loved from the movie。 Over all I did enjoy the book once I was able to separate the book Meg and the movie Meg。2。5 stars rounded up。

It was cute, but the writing style was very young。

Let me start out by saying that a。 I love the Twisted Tales series and b。 I love Hercules。 It's one of my favorite Disney movies ever and Meg is a plain old feminist icon。 So to say I was stoked for this book is an understatement。 Unfortunately, my hopes were a bit too high。 I liked seeing more of Meg's background and seeing her have a chance to shine on her own as she is forced to undertake a quest so that she and Hercules can be together。 I really enjoyed seeing her confront the pain of her pa Let me start out by saying that a。 I love the Twisted Tales series and b。 I love Hercules。 It's one of my favorite Disney movies ever and Meg is a plain old feminist icon。 So to say I was stoked for this book is an understatement。 Unfortunately, my hopes were a bit too high。 I liked seeing more of Meg's background and seeing her have a chance to shine on her own as she is forced to undertake a quest so that she and Hercules can be together。 I really enjoyed seeing her confront the pain of her past and overcome it once and for all。 I also lived for Hades's dialogue both in this book and in the movie。 The book is at its best when Hades finally comes in the picture, and I really loved that the author incorporated the myth of Hades and Persephone in this book。 I live for that kind of dynamic。 I wish the book had stayed more centered on that at times。 I would have enjoyed it better。 Sadly, much of this book fell flat to me。 I know that the Twisted Tales are based on the Disney movies we all know and love, but most of the other's I've enjoyed have not feel like caricatures the way this one did。 I felt like I was reading a cartoon in this book。 The references felt super out of place in Ancient Greece and the humor was cartoonish in a way that wasn't all that funny to me, but read cornily。 I also felt like there were times when Meg's character development in the movie was just thrown out the window。 Frankly, she irritated me at times with her whining and her obstinateness that made her read pretty mean。 I'm all about independence, but there's independence and then just being a jerk to everyone around you。 So sadly, this was not what I had hoped, but it I wouldn't say it was horrible。 It certainly appeals to younger readers, But if you're looking for a fresh and twisty retake on Hercules this isn't it。 。。。more

After a long stretch of disappointments and boredom with this series, I am so pleased by how much I enjoyed Go the Distance! I loved the inclusion of gods and goddesses, the nods/phrases from the movie, and the fact that Meg’s full name is Megara Egan, presumably named after the voice actress of Meg, Susan Egan。 Definitely one of my favorites in the series!

Hercules has always been my favorite Disney movie, so to be able to read a sort of “Hercules Part 2” was a dream。 I loved the focus on Meg and her personal journey (both physical and emotional), plus the happy ending that I so desperately craved。 Absolutely loved this!

Felt like a Percy Jackson book。 Also, probably my favorite of the Twisted Tales now。

Not as good as I hoped it would be。 Meg's entire character was driven by wanting to be a god, so she could be with her boyfriend。 It just seems so different from the sassy, cynical movie version。 Those aspects of her personality are still there, but they're overshadowed by her love for Hercules。 I was less invested in her character for it, which sucked, because she's the main character。 The plot itself wasn't bad, and that kept me going。Side note/minor spoiler: Persephone shows up because of Had Not as good as I hoped it would be。 Meg's entire character was driven by wanting to be a god, so she could be with her boyfriend。 It just seems so different from the sassy, cynical movie version。 Those aspects of her personality are still there, but they're overshadowed by her love for Hercules。 I was less invested in her character for it, which sucked, because she's the main character。 The plot itself wasn't bad, and that kept me going。Side note/minor spoiler: Persephone shows up because of Hades, and she willingly went to the Underworld because they're madly in love with each other。 Wasn't a fan of that。 I know authors have adapted mythology to fit into their stories, but this erases the fact that Hades kidnapped Persephone and tricked her into having to spend half a year with him。 Staying true to that original version would have added a lot more tension to the story。 。。。more
